As of November 2022, BeReal does not currently generate revenue. They have no subscription, no in-app services, and no ads. The only money it has made was through the investments.

It is also noted that just like the social media apps that came before it, BeReal’s strategy was to amass as many users as it can in as little time as possible.

Once users became interdependent with the app, it is then easier to introduce monetization.

How does BeReal work?

The app operates in the idea that the users should show who they really are through their phone camera. BeReal will ask its users to take mandatory simultaneous photos from both the front and back cameras. This will then provide a depiction of what the users are doing at the moment.

The app’s take on sharing the day to day activities of its users is extremely popular among the Gen Z population.
